How to Check a Baby Bottle for Visible Wear Before Reuse

A quick visual check can catch a bottle part that no longer looks or fits the way it did when new. The goal is not to create a universal replacement calendar; each material and model has its own care guidance.

Inspect clean, dry parts in good light and compare anything unusual with the official manual.

Check the bottle body

Look for cracks, chips, deep scratches, warping, or areas that have become difficult to clean. For glass models, inspect the rim and body; for PPSU or plastic models, check the neck and thread shape.

Check soft and sealing parts

Examine the nipple, vent, gasket, and seal for tears, stretching, stickiness, folding, or a fit that no longer sits evenly. Do not judge compatibility from appearance alone.

Check rigid connection parts

Inspect the collar, cap, base, and adapter for damaged threads, loose connection points, or pieces that no longer align. Record the model before ordering a replacement.

A simple checklist

  • Clean and dry every part first.
  • Use bright light.
  • Compare with model-specific guidance.
  • Stop using a visibly damaged component.

Frequently asked questions

Is there one replacement timeline for every bottle part?

No. Follow the product instructions and replace a part earlier when damage or unreliable fit is visible.

Can discoloration alone identify damage?

Not always. Compare it with the material’s care guidance and contact support when unsure.
